Seeing Red

DSCN5780 red blows in on a
dark dawn promising
another violent night

a robin with blood
on the breast threatens
its brother the cardinal

tulips dot the garden
like a carnage of
caution in the weeds

my wheelbarrow falls
on the muddy battlefield
dressed in red

NaPoWriMo #18

* A poem that begins and ends with the same word, part of today’s prompt.

I’m writing a poem every day in April as part of NaPoWriMo’s celebration of National Poetry Month. We may be able to live without poetry, but who would want to?
