Buds will not burst

Buds will not
burst, until the robin spies
its next worm.

Grass will not
grow, until the heifer follows
her own path.

Spring will not
come, until soft rain seeps
into our soul.

NaPoWriMo #4

*Following NaPoWriMo’s prompt on this 4th day by writing a poem in the form of a lune, which is a simplified version of the Japanese haiku, as a 3-line stanza with three words in the first line, five words in the second and three words in the third. That way, you don’t have to worry about those pesky syllables!

I’m writing a poem every day in April as part of NaPoWriMo’s celebration of National Poetry Month. Won’t you join me in poetry?

  1. This is one of those deceptively simple-looking things whose layers unfold in a kind of delayed reaction. It is a beautiful way to describe the Becoming in this time of year. The repitition is like breathing; it soothes and helps with the impatience that is part of this Becoming.

    Thank you!
