April Love Prompt: An Inspiring Person

This year I’m celebrating National Poetry Month by combining  NaPoWriMo’s daily poetry challenge with Susannah Conway’s April Love daily photo prompts on Instagram. Each day of April, you will observe the same photo in my Instagram feed on the righthand sidebar that you see in my blog post along with an instapoem. We shall find out at the end of the month whether this was a brilliant career move, sheer laziness or a fool’s errand.

Until then, care to join me in these creative waters where even fools fear to tread? The water’s fine.

      1. I get this. It came from my mom, from hers, from her father. Several generations of us are linked through that love and appreciation. It’s got to be something deeper than genetics.

  1. What an eloquent piece! This bringing together of photo and text really speaks to that mysterious connection between ancestor and descendant. Can we love someone we’ve never known? You have beautifully suggested yes.

    1. This is a photo of my grandmother and my father’s older sister, who passed away, sadly, shortly after this photo was taken. So, there are actually two bright spirits who I never knew in person, but always find in flowers.
